Is it possible to track the IP of an email you got through MSN/Hotmail?

Why is my email account sending out spam?

I just signed into my hotmail account to find a bunch of delivery failure notificatoins so I checked my outbox and sure enough there are all these stock market emails that have been sent out from my account. All of the emails are variations of the name amanda so it’s clearly spam, and it’s going out with my name on it.

Does anyone know how that happened and if I can stop it from happening again?
