Can people track when an email has been forwarded?


Can people track when an email has been forwarded?
I’ve gotten emails that said, if you forward this a company will give you money or a reward etc. How can a company track if an email they sent out was forwarded? Is it all scam? Then why would someone bother wasting their time if they won’t even bennefit?

Hi I live in an area where the economy is absolutely horrible and I’m planning on leaving to another state to start a new life. But in the mean time I will need some cash to help me get there.
